RUMOURS that ex-Warriors star Khama Billiat (32) will be moving to Egyptian and African giants Zamalek have resurfaced, a year after initial attempts to price him from Kaizer Chiefs failed.

Billiat whose contract ran out at Amakhosi did not report for pre-season as was expected after another deal was tabled and is currently holidaying in Zimbabwe showing no signs of pressure.

Zamalek have maintained interest in the sleek forward since his outstanding exploits for Mamelodi Sundowns in their triumphant 2015/16 CAF Champions League season.

During his time at Sundowns Billiat played four times against Zamalek (CAF Champions League), scoring once in three straight wins before a then shocking 1-0 loss.

He was named CAF African Player of the Year (based in Africa) Runners Up after that season, adding onto the ABSA Premiership, and later CAF Super Cup.

Although much recently his career has been plagued by injuries, Billiat is still one of the most sought after talents in African football.

His former Captain at Kabo Yellow Hlompo Kekana told popular magazine show Soccer Africa he felt this was the right time for a move to cash-rich United Arab Emirates (UAE) where he his services have also been sought.

“If I were him, I was easily going to take that move to start afresh in an environment that is new for you,” said Kekana.

“In South Africa, it is going to be difficult for him because he hasn’t played enough football in the last three years.”

In Zamalek, Billiat would have found an extremely competitive side that constantly challenges for continental glory despite stiff challenges from rivals Al Ahly.
