Zimbabwe was suspended after government expelled the Felton Kamambo led ZIFA board.

Through the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) government suspended then ZIFA President Kamambo, board members Philemom Machana and Bryton Malandule citing mismanagement of funds, corruption and sexual abuse of female referees.

FIFA insisted government should reinstate Kamambo, Malandule and Machana so it lifts the suspension.

Speaking to Parliamentarians Wednesday, Coventry said government will not reappoint the suspended trio no matter the implications.

“We have accepted that (the ban). We have never asked them (FIFA) to lift it. We don’t want them to lift it at this point until we cleared and clean up our soccer,” said Coventry.

Bakasa took to his Facebook page, blasting the Olympian for being inconsiderate.

“Dear honorable Kirsty Coventry imagine if swimming was banned the days you started emerging.

“Who would have seen you representing Zimbabwe and achieving? Yeah, I almost forgot you would not be standing there saying this because literally you would not be there.

“Please treat this with urgency we are losing valuable time. Football is a short career, every second counts.”
