The suspension is meant to ensure rehabilitation of over used National Sports Stadium and completion of work on Rufaro Stadium, Sakubva Stadium in Mutare and Nyamhunga in Kariba.

The suspension will extend to July 1.

“This serves to advise that thr PSL is taking a break with immediate effect and will resume on the 1st of July 2023,” reads a statement from the topflight administrators.

“This has been necessitated by the maintenance work on water reticulation being carried out at the National Sports Stadium and allow the playing field to regenerate.

” We also exoect refurbishment works at Rufaro, Nyamhunga and Sakubva stadia to be completed before we resume matches.”

Work on Rufaro stadium is on schedule while Nyamhunga is reportedly close to meeting ZIFA First Instance Board (FIB) standards.

The National Sports Stadium, which is playing host to eight teams has buckled under pressure.

It has been hosting matches every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Its pitch has started to dry up and develop patches while shortage of a water source at the stadium has resulted in fans being denied entry into ablution facilities, against ZIFA and PSL regulations.
