CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe found no fault in his players Sunday after witnessing them fall to Highlanders 2-1 from behind at Barbourfields Stadium.
It was a perfect “welcome back” to topflight action for Bosso’s Baltemar Brito after an unprecedented break due to shortage of stadia in the country.
Hosting Bosso at its own home, Caps had looked to break Brito’s unbeaten run this season but goals from Lynoth Chikuhwa and Melikhaya Ncube after Joseph Tulani’s opener were enough to ensure three points for Highlanders.
Speaking after the well-attended fixture, Chitembwe said he was impressed by the manner in which both teams played.
“This is one loss I can take with pride.
“Like we anticipated, it was a very competitive match, it was played with a lot of intensity, lots of flair.
“I’m happy with how both teams played, it was a spectacle. Whenever Caps United and Highlanders play, matches are always very entertaining,” said Chitembwe.
His opposite number said they were happy to have played away but still remain at their BF fort.
With no stadium in capital Harare allowed to host premiership matches, blockbuster clashes have been moved to Bulawayo.
Said Brito: “We were lucky to play our away game at home. Our supporters came and they made a difference, they pushed the team. Winning the derby of the cities against a team that is competing for the championship, it’s more than three points.”
Dynamos host FC Platinum at the same stadium next weekend.
