That Dynamos did not retain Tonderai Ndiraya despite the coach’s third place finish in the 2021/22 season just about sums up the level of expectations for any coach who is hired by the glamour boys.

Time is the most precious resource at Dynamos, that no one can ever claim to have in excess.

That will be the situation that Dynamos head coach Herbert Maruwa and his yet to be unveiled assistants, Genesis Mangombe and the returning Murape Murape will probably find themselves in when the Premier Soccer League season begins in March.

Murape has the case of 2019 to look back at and warn his colleagues of the high expectations that Dynamos fans have, whatever the situation. Lloyd ‘Mablanyo’ Chigowe & Murape conducted trials to assemble a squad, but were still fired after just three games [W0 D2 L1].

Will the new coaches be given enough time to create a team out of the new players that the club has signed?

Dynamos announced defender Donald Dzvinyai as their 10th official signing on the 1st of February, and there are more on the way as confirmed by Maruwa.

There are new recruits at the Dembare training ground who have already signed contracts but have not yet been officially announced.

When all the transfer business is done, Maruwa & crew would have brought in more than 15 new players, excluding juniors promoted from the development team.

Donald Mudadi, Jayden Barake, Tendaishe Magwaza, and Denver Mukamba were among players who were part of the Dynamos squad that beat Sheasham 1 nil in a preseason friendly match at Ascot stadium on 28 January, but are yet to be officially announced as Dynamos players. Ali Sadiki is also reportedly in the coaches’ plans.

There are ‘new’ brooms all round at Dynamos, with the most notable constants being Richard Chihoro [Team Manager] & Bernard Marriot [Majority Shareholder].

Former vice chairperson Moses Maunganidze replaced Isiah Mupfurutsa as Chairperson while Jonathan Mashingaidze bounced back as the chief executive officer. Then there is the new coaching department and a host of new players.

The 7 million dollar question is, Will they bring back the glamour? Dynamos last won the title in 2014, then coached by Kalisto Pasuwa. It was the gaffer & club’s 4th title in a row.
