ON loan Dynamos left back Tinotenda Muringai and former winger Emmanuel Mandiranga  have won their first silverware with new club, UD Songo of Mozambique.

Mandiranga had been turning out for cross town rivals Caps United before his season long loan move to UD Songo in February.

UD Songo won a three-day international pre-season tournament in Malawi on Sunday.

They beat Zimbabwean coach Kallisto Pasuwa’s Nyasa Big Bullets 1-0 at Kamuzu Banda Stadium courtesy of Dario Melo’s 31st minute long range goal.

The Mozambican champions are pulling all strings to ensure a respectable run in the CAF champions league after claiming domestic glory last season.

Muringai and Mandiranga are some of the players it has brought in to beef up its squad.

“It was a very good game indeed where we were keeping possession away from our opponents, I wasn’t having pressure and I was seated for almost thirty minutes when my boys were all over these guys, rotating the ball very well,” said Pasuwa after the match.

“It was only one mistake and we were punished and that’s exactly what happened to us when we were playing the international games (in the CAF Champions League) where we got punished for two mistakes and the same thing happened again.

“In the second half, we tried to go forward but again it is the attacking thrust that we are lacking as you know we lost two of our best scorers or even one of our central midfielders, but again we still need to work on the attacking third from midfield to attack.”

Kallisto Pasuwa was happy with his side’s performance despite the loss

The four team tournament, hosted by Nyasa Big Bullets, also featured UD Songo’s Mozambican rivals Ferraviarro de Nampula and Mighty Wanderers.

Zimbabwe’s Dynamos FC had been invited to the event but was later dropped due to the country’s ban from participating in international football activities.

2015 Castle Lager premiership champions Chicken Inn FC won the invitational tournament in 2020.
