If his desire comes to fruition, Kaka as Mangombe is nicknamed, could become the first Dynamos coach to win Chibuku Super Cup since its return in 2014.
Its nine years now since the prestigious cup returned to the domestic football and DeMbare are yet to lift the it.
Mangombe, who has had a good start as an interim coach after taking over from Herbert Maruwa, is dreaming big hoping to break the Chibuku Super Cup jinx.
However, he acknowledges that it won’t be an easy feat especially looking at teams that progressed to the quarter finals of the knock out competition.
“It is my wish to win Chibuku Super Cup (with Dynamos) but you know this knock out competition is always difficult.
“Teams that have progressed (to the quarter final stage) are also big teams so we don’t have to underrate [them], we will face it when it comes,” he told bhorafrika.
DeMbare beat Simba Bhora 1-0 a week ago to reach the last eight of the competition in what was Mangombe’s first assignment in his interim role.
The Glamour Boys will learn their quarter finals opponents in a draw to be held in September at a date to be announced.
Chibuku Cup quarter finals matches are scheduled for 23 and 24 September 2023.
Meanwhile, history does not favour Dynamos in the Chibuku Super Cup.
They have failed to reach the quarter finals on several occasions although they once reached the final in 2015, finishing as runners up after losing to Harare City.
Winners of the Chibuku Cup will earn a ticket to represent Zimbabwe in the next edition of the CAF Confederation Cup.
