KAIZER Chiefs manager Bobby Motaung has been hosted in Harare twice in the past month by millionaire owner of Zimbabwe’s 2025 Castle Lager premiership champions, Pedzayi ‘Scott’ Sakupwanya.
Scottland has, in turn, been invited to play Kaizer Chiefs in the third Toyota Cup final that is set for Royal Bafokeng Stadium, Rustenburg, South Africa on July 26.
This seems to be the beginning of a relationship between two of Southern Africa’s numerable resourced clubs.
According to Sakupwanya their bromance means more, in fact, Kaizer Chiefs is currently considering their offers for some unnamed players as he builds up for the Total CAF Champions League which kicks off on September 4.
“We are in talks with Kaizer Chiefs and other teams abroad to sign more quality players. You are indeed going to witness our greatness,” said Sakupwanya on Scottland’s weekly podcast.
Sakupwanya explained how their linked up, surprisingly, it was Kaizer Chiefs that was snared by Scottland’s opulence.
Added Sakupwanya: “Kaizer Chiefs saw the Manchester City in Zimbabwe on media platforms. You will see in Zimbabwe that we indeed are the Manchester City in Zimbabwe.
“You will see our principal sponsor next season; I was in Dubai recently were I concluded the deal.”

Scottland is undoubtedly Zimbabwe’s richest club, with players that could walk into any team on the continent.
Knowledge Musona who made a name for himself at Kaizer Chiefs and later captained various sides in the Saudi Pro League is part of the team’s attack alongside 2016 CAF African Player of the Year (Based in Africa) runner-up Khama Billiat.
Knowledge’s younger brother, Walter, who played for Sekhukhune in the South African league, captains the side.
