WITH the Castle Lager premiership just over the halfway stage, the race for glory and standout individual performances have given fans countless talking points.
From Knowledge Musona and Khama Billiat’s bromance at Scottland FC, Neliswa Dlamini’s impressive show at Hardrock to Dynamos’ Ghanaian import Frank Agyemang’s exploits, the 2026 season has given fans all that they expected.
Bhora Afrika has ranked the PSL’s top 23 players, ranking them up to 10, based on their impact, consistency, statistics and overall contribution to their teams during the first half of the season, highlighting the stars who have defined the campaign so far.
Knowledge Musona (Scottland) – Has scored eight and managed Scottland’s performance like the teenage Knowledge who terrorised defenders while playing for Kaizer Chiefs (9)
Nelson Chadya (Scottland) – 16 clean sheets in 20 matches puts Chadya’s name in the pot from which this season’s soccer star of the year will be selected (9)
Khama Billiat (Scottland) – Gaucho, the King of First touch has people believing his talent will never fade with nine goals in 20 matches and seven assists (9)
Frank Agyemang (Dynamos) – Has reprogrammed himself with nine goals in 20 matches and performances that have seen Dynamos fans fear that they might lose him (8)
Tonderayi Mateyaunga (Hardrock) – With eleven clean sheets in 17 matches, Mateyaunga ranks highly. He has conceded just nine and even managed to shut out Warriors goalie Martin Mapisa, who has had to watch from the bench (8)
Ralph Kawondera (Herentals) – The striker turned defender has been a revelation for Herentals this season, topping the goalscoring chart with nine goals despite playing at the back. He is a definite contender for the season’s Best XI (8)
Peter Mudhuhwa (Scottland) – has been solid at the back, strong and unshakeable alongside Kelvin Moyo (8)
Kelvin Moyo (Scottland) – His partnership with Muduhwa has only let in six goals in 18 matches, ensuring 14 clean sheets for goalie Nelson Chadya and the club. (8)
Andrew Mbeba (Highlanders) – Worth every penny Highlanders paid him at the start of the season. He is saving Bosso’s season, almost singlehandedly (7)
Nyasha Gurende (Caps United) – No one has had a better start at a new club as Gurende this season. He has cemented his position at the heart of Caps United’s defence and endeared himself with Makepekepe fans (7)
Washington Navaya (Hardrock) – The 2025 Soccer Star of the Year has not stopped scoring for new side Hardrock. After a challenging start at Chahwanda Stadium, Navaya has managed eight goals in 17 matches (7)
Neliswa Dlamini (Hardrock) – Popularly known as Tiger, Dlamini has lived up to his billing at Hardrock where he has made the central midfield position his own against quality competition from players such as Junior Makunike. His combination with Munashe Bamara and Donald Mudadi has seen the new side stay within touching distance of first place (7)
Marvelous Mukumba (Ngezi Platinum) – After the departure of half his teammates, Mukumba has taken over the leadership role at Ngezi Platinum and guided its youngsters exceptionally well. That Ngezi has a transfer ban makes his situation even more impressive (7)
Donald Mudadi – Now in the Hardrock engine, Mudadi has rediscovered the form that made him a household name a couple of seasons ago at Dynamos. Even in defeat, Mudadi stood out when his side fell 2-0 to Scottland at Rufaro Stadium (7)
Ishmael Wadi (Caps United) – Wadi has developed a knack for scoring goals that matter. He scored the opener in Caps United’s Harare Derby win and a last gasp win over ZPC Kariba. He has scored five this season and seems to have found the right tonic for Makepekepe’s ever demanding fans (7)
Richard Hachiro (Caps United) – Shirt tucked in, Hachiro has been cleaning the Caps United link like a man on serious business. The former Ngezi Platinum star has become a perfect fit for Makepekepe (7)
Harrison Masina – Harrison Masina’s five goals for Simba Bhora have kept faith for the Shamva based side’s fans despite a fairly poor run so far (6)
Ishmael Nyanhi (Simba Bhora) – Despite a faltering start to the 2026 season, there is no doubt that Nyanhi has been central to Simba Bhora’s respectable fight to reclaim its past glory (5)
Arthur Banda (MWOS) – Five goals and an assist in 11 games for Banda make him one of the first half’s best performers. MWOS is however still struggling to replicate its 2025 campaign (5)
Dreamer Liyeto (Herentals) – Liyeto has scored four this season, including a key goal against Dynamos at Rufaro Stadium. He has been a revelation and the fact that his goals and Kawondera’s are more than half of the total scored by Herentals is testament (5)
Garikai Dematsika (FC Platinum) – Without Garikai Dematsika, coach Joel Luphahla’s FC Platinum would be worse than 10th. That he was not snapped up by the cash-rich boys of the local league is surprising considering how he has commanded the midfield at FC Platinum (5)
